When repairing a pneumatic ball valve, it is important to ensure that the pipeline of the ball valve is indeed depressurized before dismantling to prevent damage to the sealing surface of the parts during decomposition. During handling and maintenance, dust on the ball valve should be dealt with. The ball valve is suitable for brushing and compressed air purging. It is also necessary to adhere to the external activities of the ball valve to keep it clean. Next, I will introduce the relevant content to you in detail.

1. Precautions for pneumatic ball valve maintenance

1. Before dismantling and decomposing the pneumatic ball valve, it is necessary to ensure that the downstream pipeline has been depressurized. Care must be taken during decomposition and reassembly to prevent damage to the sealing surfaces of the parts, especially non-metallic parts. When using specialized tools, remove the O-rings.

2. During assembly, the bolts on the flange must be tightened symmetrically, gradually, and evenly. The cleaning agent should be compatible with the rubber, plastic, and metal parts of the ball valve, as well as the working medium (such as gas). When the working medium is gas, gasoline (GB484-89) can be used to clean the metal parts. Pure water or alcohol should be used to clean non-metallic components.

3. The individual components after disassembly can be soaked and cleaned. For non-metallic components that have not been disassembled, they can be cleaned with a clean and fine silk cloth dampened with cleaning agent (to avoid fibers falling off and sticking to the components). When cleaning, remove all grease, dirt, glue, dust, etc. that are stuck to the wall. Non-metallic components should be removed from the cleaning agent immediately after cleaning and should not be soaked for a long time.

4. After cleaning, the assembled wall surface should be allowed to dry after the cleaning agent has evaporated (the cleaning agent should not be soaked in a scarf for wiping). However, it should not be used for extended periods, as this may lead to rust and dust contamination. New components should also be cleaned before assembly.

5. Use grease for lubrication. The lubricating grease should be compatible with the metal materials, rubber parts, plastic parts, and working medium of the ball valve. When the working medium is a gas, special lubricating grease 221 can be used. Apply a thin layer of lubricating grease on the surface of the sealing groove, a thin layer on the rubber sealing part, and a thin layer on the sealing and friction surfaces of the valve stem.

During assembly, contamination, adhesion, or retention of impurities and foreign objects such as metal debris, fibers, grease (except for designated purposes), dust, etc. on the surface of parts or entering the mold cavity is not allowed.

II. Maintenance and repair of pneumatic ball valves

1. Cleaning of pneumatic ball valve

In terms of the appearance of ball valves, the valve stem and its nut feature trapezoidal threads. The sliding components on the valve stem nut and bracket, as well as gears, worms, and worm components, are prone to accumulation of dirt, oil, and residual media, which can cause wear and corrosion to the ball valve. Therefore, it is crucial to keep the exterior and moving parts of the ball valve clean and maintain the integrity of the ball valve paint. Dust on the ball valve is suitable for brushing and compressed air purging; dirt between the trapezoidal threads and teeth is suitable for cleaning with a cloth; ball valves with oil and residual oil are suitable for steam purging, or even cleaning with copper wire, until the machined and mating surfaces exhibit a metallic luster, and the painted surfaces show that the paint has been removed. The drain valve should be held by a designated person at least once per shift, and the drain valve and the plug at the bottom of the drain valve should be opened on time for flushing, or the flushing valve should be opened on time to prevent blockage of the ball valve.

2. Lubrication of pneumatic ball valve

Moving parts such as ball valve trapezoidal threads, valve stem nuts and bracket sliding parts, bearing parts, gears and worm gears, and worm gear meshing parts all require excellent lubrication conditions to reduce mutual conflict and avoid mutual wear. Some parts are equipped with special oil cups or oil nozzles. If they are damaged or discarded during work, they should be corrected and lubricated to unclog. Lubrication points should be lubricated in a timely manner according to specific circumstances. Normally open, high-temperature ball valves are suitable for lubrication once a week to once a month; ball valves that are not frequently opened and do not operate at high temperatures can have a longer lubrication cycle.

3. Lubricants include oil, butter, molybdenum disulfide, graphite, etc. High-temperature ball valves are not suitable for use with oil or butter, as butter will melt and drip at high temperatures. However, they are suitable for molybdenum disulfide and graphite powder. For exposed parts that require lubrication, such as trapezoidal threads and gears, if lubricating grease such as butter is used, it is prone to dust contamination. Instead, molybdenum disulfide and graphite powder are preferred for lubrication.
